It has been reported that Mike Tyson’s ‘punch victim’ has erred on the side of caution and hired a lawyer after he says that the boxer used ‘excessive’ force.
The footage released on social media show the former champion Tyson unleashing a series of punches onto Melvin George Townsend III in retaliation to having a bottle thrown at him.
There has been no footage, however, of the bottle being thrown.
Tyson’s representatives, though, continue to claim his actions were a reaction to Townsend’s behaviour, who witnesses claim were harassing the boxing star at San Francisco airport.

The lawyer of the identified victim presented his side of events, which ended in Townsend coming out of the altercation with bloody cuts on his head.
Via TMZ, his lawyers have said: “Our client is a big Mike Tyson fan.
“When Mike Tyson boarded the plane, he became overly excited. At first, their interaction was cordial.
“At a certain point, Mr. Tyson clearly became agitated by an overly excited fan and began to strike him in an excessive manner.
“This situation could have been avoided simply by contacting the flight attendant. Our client denies throwing a water bottle prior to being struck by Mr. Tyson.”
Morgan reiterated the fact that instead of using his hands on an overly excited fan, instead the legendary boxer should have used greater restraint techniques.
Other witnesses have claimed that Mike Tyson was calm and collected during the exchange with the fellow passengers, including Townsend, even opting to take a selfie with one of the two.
The American boxer then allegedly lost his temper as the passenger in the footage continued to irritate him.
In true Mike Tyson fashion, the incident did not seem to discomfort him as he arrived at his hotel in Miami and happily stopped to interact with fans whilst boasting a big smile on his face.
The infamous boxer has not competed professionally since 2005, but instead has taken part in a few exhibition matches over the years. Most recently, he faced fellow champion Roy Jones Jr.
