The Manchester United striker signed a season-long loan deal with the Spanish Liga side in a bid to resurrect his career after sexual assault and rape charges against him were dropped in February.
United’s six-month internal investigation into the 21-year-old concluded in August and announced that Greenwood would relaunch his career away from Old Trafford.
Getafe will contribute a small amount towards Greenwood’s wages during the loan spell while United ‘will continue to offer its support to Mason and his family during this period of transition’.
Greenwood signed for Getafe late on transfer deadline day and has been officially unveiled as the club’s new signing on social media.
Due to the nature of the signing, Getafe have now created an English-language X, formally known as Twitter, account that has almost 30,000 followers.
